Cat tied up in bag and abandoned sparks appeal

A cat was wrapped in sheets, taped in a drawstring bag and dumped in Angmering

A charity says it is attempting to trace a person who tied up a cat in a bag and left it for dead in West Sussex.

The young male cat was wrapped in plastic and dust sheets, taped in a drawstring bag and dumped near a country lane in Angmering, Wadars Animal Rescue Charity said.

Its director, Tracy Can, said it was "one of the most sickening and cowardly" incidents she had seen.

"It is clearly a deliberate act of cruelty with the intention of killing the cat," she added.

The charity was ed by a member of the public on Wednesday who initially thought it was a bag of rubbish in Roundstone Lane.

The woman cut a hole in the bag and saw fur.

Ms Can said the cat, which has a distinctive mark on his right ear, appeared to be in "fairly good shape," despite the ordeal.

She thanked the member of the public for taking the time to check the bag and ing the charity.

"Without her quick thinking, I think we would be looking at a dead cat," Ms Can added.

Anyone who recognises the cat is urged to the charity.
