Spurs fans wearing 'winners 25' shirts

Although the parade has finally finished, the celebrations will go on long into the night for many.

Perhaps what made this event so special was that it was free, meaning that many fans who might normally miss out on the matchday experience could be part of this electric atmosphere.

They lined the streets in their thousands: the young and old, those from near and far, some in kit and others waving flags.

For the thousands who came to the streets of north London, they were richly rewarded with an afternoon to .

    We've been hearing more now from Spurs fans.

    Richard Pearson says he's been "watching the [victory] parade with such pride" because he's been ing the team since 1959 "through good times and bad times".

    "I was able to see so many great players through the years and even meet some of them," he says, adding that his granddaughter "loves" to see the women's Spurs team "which we've been ing too".

    Adam in Frome, Somerset, says that it has been "one of the toughest seasons to watch as a Spurs fan".

    "But that trophy and this parade is giving me chills and a renewed positivity and belief for the future of the club," he says.

    Dillon and Emma can just about trump Mark and James' journey (see previous post below), having come over from South Carolina for today's parade.

    He was born in north London so this is very special for him.

    Best friend Emma is less familiar and Dillon says he is initiating her into the "soccer madness" on the condition he "stays on his best behaviour".

    We’ll see how that one holds up.

    Mark and James Adams travelled straight from finishing school in Essex to the Tottenham parade.

    James ran to the train station after school to make it in time - the 13-year-old is a big Spurs fan and is so excited to be part of the celebrations.

    We've had fireworks, flares and sprinkles and it just captured the mood of the fans.

    It's worth saying just how long they've waited, they have to make the most of every minute of it and that's exactly what they're doing.

    Once that trophy was lifted and the cheers went up, it's all just flags and waving and a proper party atmosphere.

    The trophy is now being ed around the players, who are lifting it up to cheers from the crowd each time.

    Music is still pumping and fans are still singing along as the official celebrations start to draw to a close.

    But judging by the crowd's unwavering excitement, the party atmosphere will continue into the night for many.

    "Seventeen years of pain and near misses. I can now finally forgive my dad for making me a Spurs fan.

    "Never seen an atmosphere like today in Tottenham! COYS."

    Son Heung-min is asked what the win means to him.

    "Ten years, guys, ten years," he says to the fans. "You guys [have] been saying from day one until now, boys."

    He goes on to tell the crowd that he "loves" them.

    The crowd is cheering When The Saints Go Marching In - but with a twist, singing "When the Spurs go marching in".

    The Spurs players appear on the stage to a delighted crowd beneath them.

    "We're here because of this unbelievable group of people, players and staff, absolute heroes," head coach Ange Postecoglou says.

    "They did it all for you because you deserve it this club deserves it."

    The crowd continues to cheer beneath him.

    Music is pumping and there is a constant chant from the crowd as they await their idols.

  • 'Today is why we do what we do' - Ange Postecoglou

    "Seeing [the fans] come out there today is why we do what we do," says Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.

    Speaking as the bus continues its way past the thousands of fans, he says he is "super pleased" his team was able to deliver the first trophy in 17 years.

    "All good things come from hard work, toil, perseverance and belief, and this team's had it in spades," he tells the Tottenham Hotspur Youtube channel.

    Despite an electric end to their European season, in the Premier League the team's performances have been much less rosy and questions still hang over Postecoglou's future at the club.

    "What the history books say is we're the Europa Cup winners and it doesn't say how we did it," he adds.

  • 150,000 people expected along victory route

    Fans have attempted to get as close to the action as possible

    Estimates ahead of today's parade projected that 150,000 people would take to the streets along the route stretching from Edmonton to Tottenham, news agency PA reports.

    Official crowd counts haven't been released yet but its clear tens of thousands of Lilywhites have come out in force for their team.

    Tony Lones has been following Spurs for decades and watched the final in Spain with his friends Steve Duncan and George Jones.

    Tony, who saw their previous European triumph in 1984, travelled to Bilbao - a journey of more than 2,000 miles - in a campervan.

    "Wouldn't have missed it for anything, every last second! Cried like a baby! We as fans, along with the players deserve this.

    "My boy who’s in his 30s has only seen us win two trophies. Anyway up the Spurs!"

    Speaking from atop the team bus as it winds along the parade route, Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario says the experience is "hard to sum up".

    "We just have to live with these emotions, these people because it's insane."

    The Italian player says he has had about two hours sleep but it's worth it to see the fans come out in force.

    "It's unbelievable what we've done," he adds amid interruptions to cheer on the fans.

    Bobby Seagull, of University Challenge fame, and his brother Davy Jose have mixed allegiances when it comes to London's football clubs.

    Davy is a lifelong Tottenham fan and Bobby s West Ham - but he’s been dragged along to the celebrations for his north London rivals.

    "I’m probably one of the few West Ham fans here," Bobby jokes.

    Davy tells me the Spurs win is "incredible and a dream come true".

    While life-long Spurs fan Daryl Rowlands couldn't make the cross-continent journey to Wednesday's final in Bilbao, Spain, he's made the trip across Britain from his South Wales home to the celebrations.

    "I've ed Spurs all my life and it's been 41 years since I last saw a European trophy being lifted," he says.

    "I couldn't be in Bilbao but I couldn't miss the parade."
