SL 50-2published at 18 overs
Target 483
Prabath Jayasuriya blocks, and blocks, and blocks.
This could be a long evening session.
While we wait for another discussion around the light to come to an end, here's England's second wicket.
200 Test catches for Joe Root. He's had a good day.
Target 483
Prabath Jayasuriya blocks, and blocks, and blocks.
This could be a long evening session.
Target 483
Four from the over, as Dimuth Karunaratne dabs one past Harry Brook at slip.
It very much looks like Sri Lanka are just playing for the bad light call.
Again, Ollie Pope is asking to bowl his seamers.
Again, it's a no.
Joe Root will continue.
Target 483
We've had a few messages saying the light is fine for the spinners to keep bowling. That may be true, but it must be taken into consideration that England might not want to.
The ball is only 16 overs old, still relatively fresh, and they'll be conscious of damaging it too much so that it loses its shine ahead of tomorrow.
Ollie Pope has every right to tell the umpires he doesn't want to bowl his spinners, and therefore they'd have no choice but to take the players off.

Catches figures - sorry for asking but why are some ICC?
Tim, Lincs
An ICC World XI faced Australia in a one-off match at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2005., external
It was given official Test status so counts towards the records of those who played, including Dravid and Kallis for the World XI.
Target 483
There's just something about batting in a cap, isn't there? They just look so effortlessly cool, even the tailender Prabath Jayasuriya.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
I think Joe Root against the left-handers from the Nursery End is a real threat.
Jonathan Agnew
BBC cricket correspondent
With each ing half hour it feels like it is not going to get any brighter.
This is baffling. It's changing every minute.
Joe Root is now going to bowl.
Plenty of chats ongoing as Sri Lanka are clearly unhappy with the light situation.
It is gloomy, so it's fair game for them to ask.
They've sent out Prabath Jayasuriya instead of Angelo Mathews.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
Joe Root was in mid-air when he took the catch. It was a good ball from Olly Stone, it had that bit of extra bounce.
200 Test match catches for Joe Root. He is just ticking off records this week.
Nissanka c Root b Stone 14 (SL 43-2)
Well, this won't make them feel much better.
Sharp bounce from Olly Stone, generated by his extra pace and in fading light, that's tough. Pathum Nissanka is squared up, and nicks it straight to Joe Root at slip.
England's seamers maintain their dominance over the visitors' top order.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
I think it has got a bit darker.
They might've been hopeful for an early finish but it's a productive over for Sri Lanka nonetheless.
Pathum Nissanka dabs one down to deep third for four, followed by a sublime drive through the covers for the same result.
Simon Mann
BBC Test Match Special commentator on BBC Sounds
I think that is the longest light check I have ever seen in a Test match.
The Sri Lanka players thought that was it and were ready to walk off.
Good news for England. Not so much for Sri Lanka, who might've been hoping for an early dash.
Here's Matthew Potts.

Looking at where the weather is coming from, there do not seem to be many breaks in the cloud.
If they do go off that might be it.
Target 483
Four runs ticked from Shoaib Bashir's over as he plugs away with the new-ish ball. England will be wary of doing too much damage to it.
It looks like Ollie Pope is asking the umpires whether the light has improved enough for him to bring the quicks back on.
Target 483
As Alastair Cook was saying, the best thing for Sri Lanka to do here is take the attack to the spinners.
Force Ollie Pope to go back to the quicks, which will then force the umpires to take them off.
Pathum Nissanka slog sweeps Joe Root for four.
