Dajaune Brown's first senior goal for Derby County rescued a Championship point for the Rams against Hull City at Pride Park.

The 19-year-old, who has come through the youth ranks at the East Midlands club, scored a memorable header to cancel out Xavier Simons' well-taken opener for the Tigers.

Both finishes were moments of real quality in a game that failed to reach any great heights before the deadlock was broken in the second half.

Brown's goal means Derby have now played out three successive 1-1 draws in a four-match unbeaten run, while Hull are now winless in four games.

Hull made a solid start as they searched for a third win in four away games but, apart from Mohamed Belloumi testing Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from distance and Abu Kamara firing off target from inside the box, they created few meaningful chances before the break.

It took a strong save from Hull's Croatian keeper Ivor Pandur to ensure the game remained level at half-time as he got down low to keep out a Kane Wilson header from a corner.

Simons' turn and fine finish from 25 yards out edged the visitors in front in the 57th minute, but the 21-year-old's second goal in as many games was not enough to secure a win.

Going behind prompted Derby boss Paul Warne to make a triple change, with Brown among those to come on, as the hosts looked for a prompt response.

Curtis Nelson had a close-range header saved and Ebou Adams fizzed a chance across the face of goal and wide before Brown met a Ben Osborn free-kick to find the back of the net with a looping header.

The teenager's milestone day, however, ended early as he left the field injured in the 89th minute.

Derby County head coach Paul Warne told BBC Radio Derby:

"I just thought it was two good teams going for it.

"Take the result out of it and just looking at it from a performance point of view and the lads giving everything, they can’t give anything more than they gave today.

"The lads I took off were gassed out, there are a lot of very tired bodies and this [Hull] is a very good team.”

On Dajaune Brown's first goal for Derby: "I just had a gut feeling that he would go on today and be a different problem, really.

"He went on and injected a bit of pace, which was good, then for him to score his first goal we are so proud of him. I'm so pleased for him. We've just got a photo in the dressing room, all of us with him in the middle, and that is something he can keep."

Hull City boss Tim Walter told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We lost two points, to be honest.

"They didn't have many chances, just from set-pieces. In the end we had to score a second and if you don't score, at the end you have to be satisfied with one point and that's two less for us.

"After the games we've had this week [a loss against Sunderland, a draw with Burnley], it's not easy to play. It's been a hard week and if we had a better result on Sunday [against Sunderland] then maybe we would be satisfied with this situation.

"But at the end we want to win games and we are close to winning - but we can do even better and that is what we are trying to do."
