Derry's Brendan Rogers, who picked up the man-of-the-match award, reflects on a disappointing day for the Oak Leafers:

"At the end of the first half we were three down and I suppose at that point we'd have been better off trying to kill the first half out and we maybe over-egged a couple of attacks.

"That actually led to them getting 1-1 and stretched it a wee bit for us at half-time, but we did come out with a bit of a bounce.

"I suppose after the first 12 minutes (of the second half) we had a fair gap of rushed shots and I had one myself. When you don't get that momentum again, it becomes tougher when they're chipping away at the one-pointers and we were missing maybe a couple of two-pointers.

"Lots of ourselves to look at in of how the momentum swung but look, Donegal were clinical and they kept pegging away and made it harder for us to chase. It was a difficult day for us now, we were chasing for most of it."

Donegal will feel they still have things to work on. Derry got through them a little too much in the first half and that's something they will want to fix for two weeks' time, especially with the pace Monaghan have up front. But Donegal are still the team to beat in Ulster.

"We left it a bit late in the first half, we got caught in the atmosphere early with the home crowd and it took us maybe 18, 20 minutes to settle and then the chances opened up."

On Jim McGuinness' Ulster record (lost only one game):

"I didn't know that stat, to be honest. We don't pay much heed to it. We're week by week with Jim. What he says you do. There's a trust both ways and I think you can see from today that we trust in the system."

Donegal are very comfortable in their own skin. Derry got it back to two points early in the second half and another team may have panicked and let Derry into it a bit more, but Donegal kicked the next six scores and killed the game there in a seven or eight minute spell. It just sums up where thge two teams are at.

Derry will need time to reflect and get away from it for a wee bit. Ultimately, Derry's second-half performance was very disappointing. They gave themselves a chance in the first half but didn't ask Donegal enough questions.

Holders Donegal will meet Monaghan in the quarter-finals in a couple of weeks.

Derry's championship is over until the All-Ireland round-robin stages.

Daire O Baoill had a really good first half. It is strange picking a player from the losing side, but throughout the whole game, Brendan Rogers has taken the game to Donegal.

He got a couple of two-pointers, won the battle around the middle and if he had a few more players around him like him, Derry may have made more of a challenge, But for me, Brendan Rogers is the man-of-the-match.

1-22 is a lot to concede in 55 minutes. It's going to be very hard to come back from that, even if you're shooting the lights out.

Donegal still lead by 10. Patrick McBrearty nudges over a couple of scores before a vintage effort from Michael Murphy after leaving Conor Glass in his wake.

Before that, Derry scored frees through Shane McGuigan and Lachlan Murray.

At half-time, Chrissy McKaigue said he wouldn't be surprised to see Brendan Rogers attempt a few two-pointers. He was right.

That's followed by fisted points from Peadar Mogan and Finnbarr Roarty. They lead by nine and Derry have it all to do once more.
