Leicestershire leave the field after beating LancashireImage source, Rex Features

It's been a very eventful - and long - day in the County Championship.

Sussex and Somerset completed early wins over Hampshire and Durham respectively, and Division Two leaders Leicestershire and Glamorgan were victorious in the second tier.

There are run-chases ongoing in the three remaining Division One games and a potential star of the future appeared at the Oval as Charlie Allison hit 140 for Essex against reigning champions Surrey.

We have five games heading into the final day. Just us from 10:30 tomorrow for full coverage.

  • Close of play at Worcestershirepublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 57-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

This time it really is over.

A fantastic day's play finally comes to an end with Kashif Ali and Gareth Roderick seeing out a barrage of good deliveries from Warwickshire seasmers Ethan Bamber and Chris Woakes late on day three.

They still have a huge task on their hands if they are to help their side reach an imposing target of 327 set in large part due to an excellent knock from Sam Hain who ended 87 not out.

Worcestershire lost Jake Libby and Henry Nicholls late on day three before bad light saw the players off for half an hour with play resuming rather remarkably at 19:10.

This local derby has been played with great skill and spirit and, weather permitting, is set up for an exciting run chase on Monday.

    Worcs 57-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

Ethan Bamber gets Kashif Ali to push on the back foot.

The ball is uppish but lands just short of third slip.

Unsurprisingly, this has been a really testing period for the two Worcestershire batters.

    Worcs 57-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

19:23 GMT on a Sunday evening and the final over is set to be bowled by Warwickshire's Ethan Bamber.

Don't you just love county cricket.

  • Big appeal - Not Outpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 57-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

Chris Woakes gets Gareth Roderick to push at one.

It seems to miss the bat but flicks the pad and Woakes appeals back to the umpire who shakes his head.

The following ball has Roderick playing at the wrong line and Woakes thinks he has his man caught behind this time but the umpire again remains unimpressed.

Drama here at the end of day three.

  • Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 57-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

Ethan Bamber finds the inside of Gareth Roderick's bat but it falls to safety as Worcestershire see out another over.

Just two overs left today. This will be Chris Woakes' last of the day.

  • 'Worcestershire need to keep wickets intact'published at 19:16 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 55-2 v Warks (target 327)

    Jim Dale
    BBC Hereford and Worcester

Right now from a Worcestershire perspective, the runs don't matter at all.

It's all about keeping those wickets intact, for what will be an interesting days play.

  • Postpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 55-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

Kashif Ali takes a single with the final ball of Chris Woakes' over to take the strike.

Three overs remaining - can the visitors take a telling wicket at the end of the day?

  • Postpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 54-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

The penultimate ball is brilliantly kept out by Gareth Roderick after it stayed low on him.

Roderick just got some bat on to that otherwise he would have been a goner.

Four overs left in the day and back into the attack comes Chris Woakes.

  • Postpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 54-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

With the weather brightening up, Ethan Bamber will be able to resume his over a minute or so early.

His first ball back is well left by Gareth Roderick.

  • Play set to resume at Worcestershire at 19:10published at 19:01 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 54-2 v Warwicks (target 327)

We said we might not have seen the last ball at New Road just yet.

Following a break of more than half an hour for bad light and rain, the covers are coming off and we will likely have another five overs of spin remaining to see out day three in the Pears v Bears derby.

    Nottinghamshire celebrate a wicket

Harry Duke and Matthew Revis had successfully kept out Notts for the best part of 13 overs after the dismissal of James Wharton and Yorks were all set to walk off with hopes in tact.

But the fourth ball of the final over (and last of the night as it happened) is a vicious riser from Dillon Pennington which takes the wicket of Duke and leaves Yorks facing a mountain.

They are going to need an astonishingly resolute and stubborn batting display from this point if they are to emerge with a draw or even a win and it is probably only bad weather now which bring the former possibility close.

Notts continue to confirm their position at the top of the table is no fluke and have been on the front foot for most of this contest. Two big innings from Joe Clarke, who added a 94 to his 64 from the first innings in the visitors' second effort have put them on it.

But with everyone thinking Mo Abbas would deliver the killer blows as he sought to replicate his first innings 6-45, it was Liam Patterson-White who has done the damage in Yorks' second innings with 3-25.

Pennington also has struck a telling blows to take his figures to 2-64 and deserves great credit for producing such a snarling delivery so late in the day.

  • Stumps at Northantspublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 25 May

    Northants 158-4 v Gloucs (lead by 248)

The final over is seen out by James Sales, who will go to bed on 49 not out.

It's been a terrific day's play at the County Ground which saw a sensational century by Gloucestershire star Cam Green before that sporting declaration.

That will likely be matched by another one from the hosts tomorrow who hope they will have enough playing time to bowl out Gloucestershire with bad weather expected on Monday.

Well done to both teams on both the quality and the spirit for which this game has been played in so far.

  • 'You feel for Duke there'published at 18:51 British Summer Time 25 May

    Yorks 159 & 176-5 v Notts 228 & 393-8 dec

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

    It's a brute of a delivery.

Harry Duke worked really hard there, you do feel for him because that's a tough one to try and get out of the way of.

Nottinghamshire have been overwhelming favourites for the past couple of days and nothing has changed in that respect.

WICKETpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 25 May

    Duke c Verreynne b Pennington 15 (Yorks 176-5, target 463)

That is a ferocious delivery to get at any stage of the day but to get it in the final over when you have worked so hard must sting.

Dillon Pennington fires a short ball in and Harry Duke tries to arch his back as he leaps off the floor in an effort to avoid it but the ball follows him.

A slight flick of his glove as it es is enough and Kyle Verreynne does the rest behind the stumps.

A bad blow for Yorks just before the close.

  • 150 runs

150 up for Northantspublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 25 May

    Northants 150-4 v Gloucs (lead by 240)

A single from James Sales brings up the 50 partnership and 150 up on the board for Northamptonshire.

    Their lead extends to 240.

  • 'Yorkshire need to still believe'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 25 May

    Yorks 159 & 176-4 v Notts 228 & 393-8

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

They could come back tomorrow if they can get through the next two overs with six wickets to try and get something out of this game.

It's highly improbable with so much time left, but if you don't believe then it's not going to happen.

  • Postpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 25 May

    Northants 145-4 v Gloucs (lead by 235)

A real drag down from spinner Ollie Price is given the treatment by James Sales whose boundary sees him move to 40 not out.

  • Close of play at Derbypublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 25 May

    Derbys 587-5 dec v Kent 326 & 157-3

Jack Leaning survives the day's final over from David Lloyd and Kent reach stumps needing another 104 to make Derbyshire bat again.

It hasn't been a bad day for the visitors, faced with such a huge first-innings total by Derbyshire, with Ben Compton scoring 156 in almost six hours of batting.

But no-one in the lower order could make a major contribution as Anuj Dal took 4-50 and they were asked to follow on.

Compton went for 49 second time around but Tawanda Muyeye will resume on 55 not out as they look for an escape route.
